The most dynamic element in today’s fashion bag market has got to be diaper bags. From dowdy to glamorous, the typical baby bag has undergone a quiet revolution thanks to the attention by Hollywood’s A-List celebrities. When movie stars like Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Janet Jackson and Ellen endorsed diaper bags, an entirely new market was created in demand for these attractive baby bags. But what is it that is so eye-catching about diaper bags, beyond the hype? In short, the popular appeal is based not only on new design elements, but also the extreme customizability of these diaper bags.

I looked into four main brands in my analysis: Mia Bossi, Nest, Storksak, and Ramalama. The first thing I discovered is that all these bags are called “designer” bags, yet they are not all priced at high designer prices, but rather cover a wide spectrum of prices. I admit, I expected that the celebrity endorsements would only reinforce the sales of the most expensive bags, but actually the most popular celebrity diaper bags are on the less expensive side, such as Nest diaper bags.Case in point: the Nest Whipstitch bag, popularized by Heidi Klum, comes with half a dozen pockets for easy-to-reach storage, and is made to attach to a stroller without fuss. Could it be that celebrities are actually promoting items with good value, rather than simply wearing the most expensive products? With diaper bags, that certainly seems to be the case!
