Many different types of commercial enterprises use band saws. These pieces of equipment are used for cutting stone, meat, metal and wood on an industrial level. Machine shop owners and workers are trained in how to use these types of power saws, so that fewer injuries will occur during their use. These saws may be powered by electricity, or by steam, water or wind power. At one time in history, these cutting saws were actually powered by animal power.

The biggest consideration that needs to be taken when using band saws is safety. The saws blades can be exceedingly dangerous, if the operator has not been trained correctly. These saws are typically found in machine shops, where the individuals have the knowledge about how to properly use them. However, they are also used in warehouses where large portions of meat need to be cut.
